Beginning with a metallic silver foundation, I layered blues and greens across the surface before gradually shaving the paint back with a razor.
Each pass revealed traces of the metallic layer beneath, creating subtle shifts in color and light that shift as the painting is viewed from different angles.
The movement reminds me of water—sometimes calm, sometimes restless—and of the way the ocean and sky on Cape Cod are never the same twice: familiar, yet always changing.
