My mom’s passing brought peace to us both.
These flowers came from dear friends who knew that purple would help brighten my spirit. A few days later, I put paint to canvas. I ladled almost a gallon of paint onto the surface and simply let it dry, allowing the colors and the weight of the paint to become what they would.
The purple, white, and green came from those flowers, but the painting became something of its own.
Every time I look at this piece, I feel a sweet connection between life and death that never fails to make me smile.
