Cotton Candy For Two began with the idea of creating two paintings together, using the same colors across both canvases. I worked with a combination of semi-gloss, eggshell and flat paint along with loose pigment, allowing the different finishes and materials to react across the surfaces.
When they were finished, the soft pinks, blues and purples reminded me of cotton candy. With fairs and so many familiar summer traditions cancelled in 2020, apparently painting cotton candy was as close as I was going to get. 😂
The two canvases belong together, but they aren’t identical—each developed its own marks, texture and movement along the way.
