After my mom moved into a memory facility, I had to clean out her home. My parents purchased many Cape Cod plates and I brought them all home with the intention of incorporating them into art. This is the first piece I did, along with one with glossy paint. Glossy and flat paints dry so differently. The flat cracked and the semi-gloss attracted flying bugs. Both are very different, yet similar, reminiscent of a person before an Alzheimer’s diagnosis and the apparent decline.
