Daffodil

My daffodils bloom early each year in a sheltered corner of one of my gardens. My mother and I planted most of the bulbs together, and some even survived patiently in a trench or bucket while my home was under construction.

In 2025, they bloomed in such abundance that I had bouquets everywhere. I wanted to capture some of that exuberance for myself.

I poured layer after layer of yellows and oranges onto the canvas, allowing the colors to pool, mingle and spill over the edges. I kept adding paint until the little canvas felt as abundant as the flowers that inspired it.
