I wanted to create something bright, vibrant, and joyful. Using plastic forks, I pulled through the wet paint to create the repeating waves and ribbons that move across the canvas. I frequently switched to clean forks, allowing the individual colors to remain vivid rather than blending together.
Layer by layer, the marks began to overlap and interact, creating a surface filled with movement. There was no image I was trying to create—just color, rhythm, and the pleasure of seeing what a very ordinary tool could do.
Years later, this painting still makes me smile.
