Every time I look at this painting, I’m reminded of the colorful lobster pots and painted buoys that line the docks in Provincetown. It feels like home because, in so many ways, it is.
Using a palette knife, I built the painting one bold stroke at a time. Rather than blending the colors together, I allowed each mark to remain distinct, creating a rhythm of color, texture, and movement that echoes the energy of a working waterfront.
From a distance, the painting feels vibrant and alive. Up close, it becomes a collection of individual marks, much like the working waterfront itself, where every weathered buoy and lobster pot carries its own story.
