Weeding, getting my fingers dirty, especially in the winter…it’s one of my favorite things. My primary garden is sunny, yet sheltered, making it the perfect place. This piece was inspired by weeding around hundreds of bulbs – daffodils, crocuses, hyacinth, lillies, snowdrops, glory of the snow, as well as my peonies, lambs ears, etc.
It’s a gift to lose myself in nature, especially in winter. It’s also a gift to lose myself in a creation, to simply trust my intuition and create. On this day, the magic from my gardens flowed into my studio. I used silicone basting brushes, my fingers and a blow dryer to create this. I’m obsessed with the visceral connection I have to what I see as “flowers in a vase”.
