I had saved leftover paint from another creation in a container rather than throwing it away. Eventually, I poured it onto a canvas—and liked what was happening enough to keep going.
Over the next few days, I added pink and white paint and worked it with my fingers, building the soft layers across the canvas.
I titled it Marshmallow because I was eating marshmallow jelly beans at the time and loved the candy-like colors.
And I still love the cracks that formed as the paint dried.
