Out There

I was simply playing with black paint and metallics when this piece emerged. It reminded me of my attempts to comprehend the vastness of space—something my mind has always struggled to grasp.

I have aphantasia, which means I don’t create visual images in my mind. I can’t picture space in there, and trying to comprehend its scale and everything it encompasses can feel almost impossible.

Somehow, painting gives me another way to explore what I can’t visualize.

The metallics shift with the light, inviting a closer look.
