I began this painting a year earlier, using a towel dipped in custom green paint and a larger ball to create the textured surface. Although the technique worked, the painting never felt complete. Rather than forcing it, I set it aside.
A year later, I returned with fresh eyes. Once the tennis ball found its place on the line, everything else fell into place.
It’s a tribute to those nail-biting moments every tennis fan knows—that split second when the ball lands and everything pauses. Is it in or out? That moment of anticipation became the painting’s final touch.
Sometimes the missing piece isn’t more work. It’s time.
