I created Wimbledon 2017 while listening to Wimbledon on the radio and watching matches on television. Layer upon layer of bold, sweeping strokes captured the movement, rhythm, and excitement of the tournament rather than any single moment on the court.
Rather than painting tennis itself, I found myself responding to its energy. Each swipe of color echoed the pace of the game, building a lively composition filled with motion and anticipation.
The first in what would become my Wimbledon series, inspired by the joy of watching a sport I love translated into paint.
